One standout feature of Hoopla is the ability to download music for offline listening, which is particularly useful for patrons on the go. Here’s how to download music from the Hoopla app. In this blog post, we’ll explore the steps for downloading music on Hoopla, tips for promoting this feature, and how it can enhance your library’s offerings.

Why Download Music?

  1. Accessibility: Many patrons listen to music during commutes, workouts, or while traveling (even on a plane!). Downloading music ensures they can access their favorite tracks even when they don’t have internet connectivity.
  2. Convenience: Users can create personalized playlists and download entire albums for easy access.
  3. Hear the Whole Album!: Instead of hearing just a hit or two from an artist, patrons can listen to a whole album from start to finish, just the way an artist intended!

Steps for Downloading Music on Hoopla

  1. Access Hoopla
  2. Log In
    • Once they have the app installed or are on the Hoopla website, patrons should log in using their library credentials. If they are new to Hoopla, they can create an account by selecting their library and entering their library card number and email address.
  3. Search for Music
    • Browse the music catalog by selecting the “Music” option from the main menu. Then search for specific artists, albums, or genres using the search bar, or explore curated collections and popular titles.
  4. Select an Album
    • After finding the desired album or artist, click on the album cover to access the album details page. This page will provide information about the album, including track listings and release date. Click “borrow” to borrow the album.
  5. Download the Album
    • Once it’s been borrowed, scroll down to “Download to your device” on the app. When clicked, the album will begin downloading to the device.
  6. Listen Offline
    • Once the download is complete, patrons can listen to their music offline through the Hoopla app. The downloaded music will be available in the “My Titles” section of the app, where users can access their borrowed items easily.
  7. Manage Downloads
    • To remove a downloaded album, select the title and tap “This title is downloaded. Tap to delete.” The download can be deleted without returning the item in order to free up space on the device. It can be downloaded again until the return date. To return early, click “Return”.

And that’s it! Downloading and managing full albums on Hoopla is simple to do and gives patrons a convenient and flexible way to enjoy their favorite tunes anytime, anywhere.
