The 2025 ALA Annual Conference is Right Around the Corner!
Library professionals from around the country will converge on Philadelphia for a weekend of networking, learning, and idea sharing. But one of the most exciting parts of any ALA Annual is the opportunity to meet the authors that bring to life the stories that we love! This year is no different, and Hoopla is excited to announce their in-booth author signings, which include:
Friday, June 27 | 6:30 p.m.
Court Stevens, Tell Me Something Good (Harper Muse): Court Stevens grew up among rivers, cornfields, churches, and gossip in the small-town South. She is a former adjunct professor, youth minister, and Olympic torchbearer. These days she writes coming-of-truth fiction and is the director of Warren County Public Library in Kentucky. Court has several novels with her name on the spine: Last Girl Breathing, We Were Kings, The June Boys, Faking Normal, and her most recent work, Tell Me Something Good.
Saturday, June 28 | 10:30 a.m.
E. Lockhart, We Were Liars (Random House Children’s Books): National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart wrote the New York Times bestseller We Were Liars, as well as Fly on the Wall, Dramarama, The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, and the Ruby Oliver Quartet, which includes The Boyfriend List, The Boy Book, The Treasure Map of Boys, and Real Live Boyfriends. She also wrote How to Be Bad with Sarah Mlynowski and Lauren Myracle.

Alan Gratz, War Games (Scholastic): The New York Times #1 bestselling author of several highly acclaimed books for young readers, including Heroes: A Novel of Pearl Harbor and Refugee. Alan’s most recent work is a heart-pounding, high-stakes take on the 1936 Berlin Olympics, also known as the “Nazi Olympics.” The book follows a young gymnast who is in Berlin to participate in the games but gets drawn into a mysterious plot that leaves her having to choose between following her dreams and standing up to evil.
Sunday, June 29 | 10:30 a.m.
Alex Segura, Dick Tracy comic book series (Mad Cave Studios): Alex is the bestselling and award-winning author of Secret Identity, which The New York Times called “wittily original” and named an Editor’s Choice. NPR described the novel as “masterful,” and it received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, and Booklist. Alex’s recent work explores an all-new, noir-infused chapter in the Dick Tracy legacy—a fresh and modern take on the iconic detective that remains true to his rich history.
Sunday, June 29 | 11:30 a.m.
Maia Kobabe, Gender Queer (Oni Press): A nonbinary queer cartoonist, a K-pop fan, a voracious reader, and a daydreamer: Maia is all those things. Author of Gender Queer: A Memoir—America’s most challenged book 2021-2023—and of short comics and writing published in The Nib, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, NPR, and Time Magazine, Maia’s second book is Breathe: Journeys to Healthy Binding with Dr. Sarah Peitzmeier, with a third book due out in 2026.
