Few comic book creators have reshaped modern storytelling the way Matt Fraction has. And now he’s turning his attention to one of the most iconic heroes of all time.
Teaming up with powerhouse artist Jorge Jiménez, Matt is spearheading a major relaunch of DC Comics’ flagship series with Batman Vol. 1: Daylight, released June 2. The project marks only the fourth time in history that DC Comics has rebooted its main Batman title with a new issue #1, making it a landmark moment for both longtime fans and new readers.
Collected in this first volume are the opening six issues of Matt and Jorge’s run, which delivers a vibrant, superhero-forward take on Gotham’s Dark Knight. Designed as a perfect jumping-on point, Daylight embraces Batman’s 85-plus years of history while pushing the character into bold new territory.
Readers can expect fresh elements, including a striking blue-and-grey costume, a revamped Batmobile, and a host of new villains and allies, all alongside beloved classics that longtime fans will recognize.

The Creative Force Behind Modern Comics
Matt’s career has long been defined by inventive storytelling and collaborative success.
He is the co-creator of the New York Times bestselling Sex Criminals and Hawkeye, two titles that helped redefine character-driven comics for a modern audience. Beyond the page, he has also made his mark in television, co-creating and serving as writer and executive producer on Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
He is also an executive producer on the upcoming Sex Criminals adaptation slated for Amazon Prime. When he’s not writing Batman for DC Comics, Matt continues to work on Adventureman at Image Comics.
Based in Portland, Oregon, Matt lives with his wife—fellow writer Kelly Sue DeConnick—their children, and their dogs. Despite his extensive resume, he remains deeply engaged with fans and the comics community.
